Back List Book Club 2019

Hey, you guys! It’s finally here. The full book list and schedule for the 2019 Back-list book club. There are two schedules for each month; the two week schedule and the month long schedule. It’s fine by me with whichever one you’d like to join. I’ll be posting about the books on my feed, and we can have (mostly) spoiler free discussion there. There will be at least two chat groups—one for each timeline—but if more people sign up, i’ll open as many chat groups as needed to accommodate. If there are any questions, feel free to message me and I’ll get back ASAP. And for anyone who wants to also participate in the new release book club, I’ll have more information about that one coming up shortly!

(Quick Note! If you and several other bookstagrammers know that either schedule won’t work for you—either due to time zones or personal scheduling conflicts—but you’d still like to be part of a chat discussion group and not just comment on the post threads, let me know and we can see about creating a separate chat group where we can discuss things at a bit of a different time.)

JANUARY

The Queen of The Night by Alexander Chee

The Queen Of The Night.JPG

Schedule: 1/1/19-1/19/19

Paperback Page Count: 573 Pages. You’ll need to read an average of 40 pages a day to finish by our discussion date. If you read ahead of everyone, just remember to avoid spoilery discussion for those who aren’t ahead yet.

1/5/19- End of Part One (The Curse)

1/9/19- End of Part Two (The Cave of Queens and Courtesans)

1/12/19- End of Part Three (Un Ballow Maschera)

1/16/19- End of Part Four (First Love)

1/19/19- Finished.

We’ll be following these dates as guidelines for how far into the book we’ll be discussing in the chat group. We’ll have a midway check-in, just to see how everyone is doing, make sure everyone is caught up and see how the reception is going so far. Then the final discussion.

Midway Check-In: 1/12/19 starting at 7 PM EST. We’ll be discussing the first half of the book, up till the end of Part Three (Un Ballo in Maschera).

Full Book-Club Style Discussion: 1/19/19 starting at 7 PM EST. We’ll be discussing the book in it’s entirety.

We can chat openly in the group, as long as the discussion points don’t spoil anything ahead of where we are in the reading. If you want to discuss the book at any point that’s not during the check in or book discussion, that’s super fun and amazing. Just be respectful to others about not spoiling any major plot points.

If you don’t want to be part of the chat group, you can just do the interactions on the posts I have in the feed. I’ll mention in each post where we are in the discussion, so be mindful of how far we are in the discussion so as not to post spoilers.

Extended Schedule: 1/1/19-1/27/19 (Review above for rules on discussion)
